15 + 1 Reasons to Migrate Now from Sage Abra Suite to Sage HRMS

“Plus 1” – the most urgent reason

We can rattle off a long list of good reasons to migrate from Sage Abra Suite to Sage HRMS, but the most pressing reason is this: Sage has announced the end of life for Sage Abra Suite, and it’s not that far off. After the September 2020 release, Sage will retire Abra and no longer provide updates, security fixes, or tax and legislative updates. As of December 28, 2020, access to the support center for assistance will end.

Sage HRMS is built on SQL Server. This state-of-the-art database provides these advantages:

  1. Enhanced time off – Effortlessly set up, track, and enforce multiple time off plans including support for seniority levels and effective dates; connect with payroll accrual codes.
  2. Easy integration – Easily transfer your data between Sage HRMS and Sage 500 ERP; SQL makes it easier to integrate Sage HRMS with other business applications.
  3. Use alternative dates – Use a date other than the hire date for calculating seniority for time off plans.
  4. Time off accruals – Set up and manage accruals with maximum amounts and carryovers per seniority level.
  5. Step rate tables – Sage HRMS provides the ability to use step rate tables to manage employee pay increases.

Sage HRMS Payroll advantages

(E.g., Sally is out on leave for two pay periods. When she returns, HR could take out 2x her normal health insurance deductions for two payrolls. The process would then return to normal. No need to “remember” to change back.
  2. No Trial or Final process in payroll – Run payroll any time for any employee or group of employees without having to do a Trial or Final Quarter close.
  3. Simplified Year-to-Date totals – Editing employee or employer portion of historical data is easy and auditable in this version.
  4. No timing restrictions – You can move employees from “Select Groups” (which are like “Pay Groups”) but you can also transfer them from one to another at any time. And employees can be in multiple groups. For example, you could have an employee in a Salaried Payroll Selection Group and a Commission Selection Group.
  5. Check on Demand – Processing a check for a single individual is easy, unlike in Abra Suite. And, the on-demand check can actually be a direct deposit!
