“I wish our software would take care of this problem.” “If only it could do that.” Sound familiar? Sometimes our software doesn’t do everything we’d like or doesn’t meet our specific needs. While supporting many Sage users over the years, we’ve come across opportunities to develop add-on functionality to support their particular requirements.

As we received more requests for similar customizations to eliminate manual data entry, reduce errors, and streamline processes, we returned to our labs, refined our solutions, and built plugin applications and interfaces, some of which have been endorsed by Sage. Our ultimate goal: improve the lives of payroll users as they file taxes, manage benefits and process paperwork. Here a few plugins that improve how you use Sage HRMS Payroll to check out.

1. Sage HRMS HR Actions Dynamic Forms Checklist

“Another form?” You can almost hear the frustration as employees wade through the stack in front of them. Making sure all required forms are filled out and completed on time can be a challenge for new hires and HR alike. This plugin enables HR to create a customized list of web-based forms (e.g., I-9, W-4, Direct Deposit) for different situations and display them in ESS for easy access by employees. They select, edit, and save the forms and can check on their up-to-date status from one screen. Sage HRMS HR Actions Dynamic Forms Checklist also displays forms status for administrators. No need for HR personnel to locate employees and ask about which forms are complete.

2. Sage HRMS HR Actions W-4

How do you move information from the W-4 into your payroll system? If it’s a manual process, this plugin can help. Besides allowing employees to complete and edit these mobile friendly, web-based Federal and State Form W-4s from anywhere with internet access, it relieves HR of some data entry. When the form’s completed, data is saved directly into Sage HRMS. With appropriate interfaces, the information can flow into these payroll systems: Sage 300, Sage 100, Sage 300 CRE, ADP, and Paychex. Done.

3. Sage HRMS Time and Labor Import

Manually transferring employee wage information from various time systems into Sage HRMS Payroll adds hours to payroll preparation. This plugin reads data from almost any time system data source, performs complex calculations like benefit accruals, overtime, tips allocations, and made-up wages, and then imports the data into Sage HRMS Payroll.

4. Sage HRMS Garnishment Manager

Payroll personnel sort through many types of garnishment orders for their employees. Calculating them and making sure they are correctly prioritized can be a headache. This plugin relieves the stress by automatically performing those tasks and making sure you remain compliant with the law. Sage HRMS Garnishment Manager supports garnishments for disposable income for CCPA, child support by state, federal agency garnishments, state levies, and IRS take home pay as well as net pay before garnishment. The plugin updates the time card with proper deduction values and enters all data into Sage HRMS Payroll.

5. Employee Earnings Distribution Simplification Procedure

Figuring out payroll for employees who work in multiple departments or who have wages paid from different funds is complicated and requires lots of data entry. This plugin uses information on job codes and employee allocations stored in Sage HRMS to automatically populate required fields in payroll.

6. Advanced Employer Match for Sage HRMS

Depending on the number and types of parameters used in calculating an employer match, the process can include manually creating spreadsheets and reports. AEM streamlines the process, gets rid of the spreadsheets, and automatically calculates and records the employer match amounts in timecards within Sage HRMS Payroll.

7. Benefit Portal Interface for Sage HRMS

Navigating between third-party benefits provider applications and your benefits screen can be less than ideal. This interface allows you to receive information from a third-party benefits manager and transfer the data directly into the Sage HRMS benefits screen. Additionally, when you add a new hire or terminate an employee, that information is transferred directly to the benefit manager, keeping both systems in sync. Gone are the days of manual entry into another system.

8. EmpowerTax Interface for Sage HRMS Payroll

Many businesses like to keep payroll in-house but don’t like dealing with the world of taxes. If you’re one of them, you’ll appreciate the option provided by this plugin. It allows you to maintain control over payroll while outsourcing tax filing and payment. After you run payroll in Sage HRMS Payroll, this interface creates a report that collects the summary of required wage data and moves it to EmpowerTax Filing service. They take it from there, ensuring accurate and timely filing and payment. And, since they make payments on the day they are due, your funds remain in your control until then. No floating of funds.

9. Custom Pay Stub for Sage Employee Self Service

Want to provide a more configurable pay stub in Sage Employee Self Service?  Use this add-on for Sage ESS to display a pay stub includes supplemental pay data while excluding non-cash income and reimbursements from earnings as well as net pay figures.

Nine plugins. Nine ways to increase your return on investment and free HR and payroll from routine, time-consuming tasks that limit their ability to participate in other, more strategic business activities. Did you see something that would solve an HR payroll problem for you? If you did, we’d love to hear from you.
