Joe Rotella Featured in Columbus CEO MagazineMarch 19, 2007 Columbus, OH – March 19, 2007 – Joe Rotella’s office is unassuming and informal. Stress-relieving toys are strewn about his conference table. He even has a “clue bus,” which he uses as a prop to show employees it’s time to hop on and get with the program. As chief technical officer for the human resources software firm Delphia Consulting, Rotella heads operations—including human resources—for the 34-employee company. His job is to combine strategic thinking, customer experience and technology to “start developing exceptional experiences for both our customers and our employees,” he says. A computer science professional specializing in software usability, Rotella worked in software development for 16 years before he was recruited by Delphia in 2002 to design HR Actions, a software program that eliminates paperwork by making it web-based. This software, he says, frees HR employees to think strategically about staffing and employment policies. “These are the folks who are now recruiting and managing an employee through their life cycle,” says Rotella. “And it’s those employees who are really making a difference in the companies that succeed or fail.” Rotella earned a certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) in 2005. He’s vice president of membership for the Human Resources Association of Central Ohio (HRACO) board of directors, and he teaches SPHR certification courses, including “Strategic Human Resources.” HRACO coordinator Carole Lassak has known Rotella for more than five years and says he’s a big asset to their organization. “He has a real broad range of business knowledge,” Lassak says, adding that he’s a “phenomenal instructor,” too. “He’s entertaining and is willing to go the second mile to do whatever it takes to help the students. He’s established study groups and really just goes above and beyond.” Rotella says he finds himself doing something work-related on many nights and weekends. “I probably sound crazy,” he says with a laugh. But, “I love what I do. I love the people I work with. I’m excited that I have the chance to come up with great ideas and try to implement them. I’m just passionate about what we do.” About Delphia Consulting, LLC |
