Project Description

Volunteers of America South East (VOASE) is a charter member of Volunteers of America and is the second largest affiliate in the country providing programs in Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. They offer services for people with developmental disabilities, veterans, low-income elderly, people dealing with substance abuse or mental illness, children in need, and the homeless. VOASE reaches over 2,000 people daily with direct programs and serves over 8,000 people annually with Community Outreach.



VOASE is a complex organization, and their migration faced several challenges including:

  • Delivering a seamless migration for 900 employees in numerous offices, many in remote locations, spread across 3 states
  • Migrating many additional HRMS modules VOASE had purchased and implemented over time
  • Streamlining employee changes for their numerous locations


With their proactive project management approach, Delphia Consulting ensured VOASE met their goals using Delphia’s migration tool, later known as Automated SQL Migration for Sage Abra Suite (ASM).

VOASE also replaced the Abra Suite Applicant Tracking module with Sage HRMS Cyber Recruiter.


Patti Hutcheson, Senior Human Resource Generalist, offers these observations:

  • “Our staff now loves to close out the year; it takes almost no effort. In Abra Suite, everything had to be timed perfectly. That isn’t the case with the SQL payroll.”
  • “HR no longer has to get out of the system during payroll processing, but can continue to work and not interfere with anything going on in payroll.”
  • “Cyber Recruiter gives the supervisor real-time access to their applicants, which provides better control over vacancies and limits overtime.”

Patti also had this to say about Sage HRMS HR Actions which had moved VOASE to paperless HR and Payroll before the migration:

  • “Prior to HR Actions, our remote offices tried to send us pieces of paper for simple stuff like a pay status change. Keeping up with that paper was wild. HR Actions did away with all of that.”
  • “We use HR Actions for everything including performance reviews, counseling reports, pay changes, promotions, and demotions, and status changes.”
  • “We have been able to personalize performance reviews—instead of using a company-wide generic one, we have automated, job-specific performance reviews.”
