They meet a wide variety of commercial and consumer banking needs with a full range of products and services – including loans, checking and savings accounts, credit cards, cash management, and trust services. They have over 170 employees in two locations.

- Wanted to be proactive in making the change to Sage HRMS, avoiding time constraints and problems with a later, reactive response to Abra’s retirement
Challenge
Did not want to risk compromising the delivery of timely payroll processing
Solution
Amalgamated chose Sage HRMS since it both contained many of the attributes of Sage Abra Suite they liked as well as provided improvements to elements in Abra that had been inconvenient and had required accommodations.
Using their Automated SQL Migration for Abra Suite (ASM) tool and methodology, Delphia migrated Amalgamated Bank of Chicago to Sage HRMS.
Amalgamated also purchased Abra Suite-like Payroll Reports Bundle, delivered as Crystal Reports. This product helps smooth the transition with a package of reports very similar to those used in Abra Suite during the payroll cycle.
Results
The Human Resources Team are very happy with both the migration process and the advantages of using Sage HRMS.

The process
- “Our migration went very smoothly, and part of that was the way that Delphia approached it. We had looked at the possibility of making this change in 2014, before we knew of Delphia’s migration tool. The move was going to be problematic to do at that time.
- “When we reconsidered moving to Sage HRMS in 2017/2018, we learned about Delphia’s ASM tool. Even though it was still a conversion rather than an upgrade, it was a smoother one because of the technology that Delphia had put into place since we had last looked at it.

Favorite functionalities of Sage HRMS
- “One of our payroll specialist’s favorite functionalities is the ability to save the check stubs as they are because we do get a lot of requests for check stubs. In the past we were able to do that only through a report. Now we can pull off the actual check stub the way that it printed.” She continued, “I know that’s a favorite because he’s mentioned it several times: ‘We weren’t able to do anything like that before!’”
- “When payroll was run under Abra, everything came to a stop. We have an attendance process we do every morning at 10. That would always have to wait until payroll was done. Now payroll doesn’t interfere with other things going on.”
- “The quarter close process appears to be easier to process than occurred in Abra.
