Users of Sage HRMS HR Actions® (HR Actions) will welcome the new version 10.7.6 that contains enhancements making HR Actions even easier to use. For example, Self-Service search has been expanded to include all Administrator search components. We’ve also added a report that that displays the installed version number for the I-9 and W-4 Forms you are running, helping to ensure compliance.
Read about these and other time-saving improvements below and then upgrade to enjoy the new features. You can review all the product changes in the Release Notes on our Software Manuals page.
New Features
Enhanced search capabilities
Here are some of the search functionality now available to HR Actions users:
- Both Admins and Self-Service users can now filter and sort Action records by company.
- Self-Service users can search for the subject (Employee) of an action as well as for the Initiator, using the Find Employee pop-up, a faster process than searching by name.
- The types of filters available to Self-Service users have increased to include:
- Form Type, Category, and/or Name
- Completed Date range as well as the Submit and Effective dates
- Two select lists that help Admins narrow the number of codes they must search through to find the ones that need editing
New Reports
Two new reports have been added to the Reports suite available to HR Actions Admins:
- The “HR Actions I-9 and W-4 – Installed Versions” displays the installed version for the form (e.g., 10.7.3) for both the I-9 and the W-4.
- The “Expected Approver Count” displays the expected approver count for each approver level node compared to the actual approver account. This helps determine if the number of approvers for the application has been changed on the parameters page.
Return Action to Approver or Initiator
HRA Self-Service approvers can return an active Action to a previous approver or initiator. Now, Administrators can too. This functionality is useful when the Approver times out, but the form definitely needs an approver. It’s also helpful when the Initiator needs to update form information but doesn’t want to do it as an auditor.
- In both cases, the form provides a field where the Admin can enter the reason for their intervention in the approval process.

Once the Admin completes the form and clicks Return To Prior Approver or Return To Initiator, the Action’s status and assignee will change appropriately.
Request edits or additional information for a Performance Appraisal Action
Have you ever read a Rater’s feedback on a PA action and wanted it changed? Perhaps references were vague, details were missing, or language used was inappropriate. This enhancement provides the capability for the creator of a Performance Appraisal Action to request additional work from a Multi-Rater on the feedback they’ve submitted.
- With a couple clicks, you can provide comments about the feedback provided and send the request for revision to the Rater. The Action’s status is reset to Pending, and the Rater receives an email notification of the request to make changes.
Additional choices in Administration Security
Two new choices were added to Administrator Security:
- “Edit Completed Actions”
- “Edit Rejected Actions”
The checkboxes for these new choices are not automatically marked on existing Administrator setup when the HR Actions database is upgraded to the new version. All existing clients will need to make sure that the current Administrators are set up properly and that these checkboxes are marked if the Administrators want that functionality. If the new choices are not marked, the Administrator will not have permissions to the “Copy” function under the Rejected folder.
New Choices in version 10.7.6 are highlighted below:

Alerts when a new hire is already in the system
This automatic alert will save time by informing you if a new employee is already in the system.
- When populating a New Hire in HR Actions SS, you will be provided with immediate feedback when a Social Security Number and Company combination already exists in Sage HRMS, i.e., the Employee being added as a New Hire is already in the system. This pop-up alert should enable you to change direction and use a Rehire form instead to update this Employee’s status, info, etc. This avoids the need to perform a “morph to rehire” in HR Action Admin at the point of saving the Action to Sage HRMS, something that causes problems when Payroll information is included in the transfer of information.
