Updated – Sage HRMS / Sage Abra Setup Guidelines for Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA/HR 6201)

We have updated our guidelines that Sage Abra Suite and Sage HRMS administrators can use to set up their system to address the new Families First Coronavirus Response Act law, which provides employees with three (3) new paid leave banks for eligible employees.

Updated – Sage HRMS Setup Guide for Families First Coronavirus Response Act

This document outlines six (6) steps to configure Sage HRMS to address the new law

  1. Set up new tax codes
    1. Two (2) for Social Security
    2. One (1) for Medicare (optional)
  2. Set up three (3) earning codes to for payments of
    1. Emergency Paid Sick Leave-Employee
    2. Emergency Paid Sick Leave-Other
    3. Emergency Paid Sick-Family Leave.
  3. Assign the new tax codes to employees.
  4. Update Employee Configuration so that the Open Payroll process will properly establish the new earnings codes on the employee payroll Pay screen.
  5. Add Optional Fields to the Sage HRMS system used for monitoring the payments.
  6. Deliver a Crystal Report created for monitoring the leave payments.

Sage Software previously released information for both Sage HRMS and Abra Suite Payroll clients on how to manage the Families First Coronavirus Response Act. Based on our own experience with Sage HRMS Payroll, we have made recommendations on what we feel are best practices for tracking the earnings associated with the FFCRA. Of course, each employer has their own specific setup in Sage HRMS and issues to consider as they move forward. We recommend you contact your employment legal team when in doubt.
