Summer Wave of I-9 Audits: Are You Ready?
According to Derek N. Benner, acting executive associate director for ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), this summer will see a wave of 1-9 audits, likely pushing this fiscal year's audit total to over 5,000. ICE workplace audits have already doubled over those conducted last year. Fines for violations have increased as well. Employers must be vigilant in completing and retaining the forms, staying compliant with the regulations, and being prepared if ICE comes knowing at their door.
